The Virginia Beach Oceanfront is the place to be in August as we have a lineup of events that you won’t want to miss. Amazing music events like Funk Fest Beach Party & the American Music Festival will feature national recording artists. The East Coast Surfing Championships is North America’s longest, continuously running surfing competition. Known to locals and patrons as ECSC, the competition is also the second-longest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. The best of the best compete at ECSC, including more than 200 of the world’s top professional male and female surfers, as well as an estimated 300 amateur surfers. Then we close out the month with a with many fun Labor Day weekend events like the Rock ‘N’ Roll Half Marathon and music festivals.

The Virginia Beach FunkFest Beach Party is the heart and soul of the weekend-long event, Africana Virginia Beach, bringing a variety of cultural music, dance demonstrations, specialty vendors, and more. The festival features free concerts, great food, and arts & crafts on the beach, boardwalk, and park at 24th Street.

Make Virginia Beach your Labor Day destination! Celebrate the 19th anniversary running of Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach! Grab your pals and sign up for 13.1 miles or a 5K – and don’t forget the dash along the beach in our Mile on the Sand. Take the Remix Challenge and run Saturday and Sunday to earn extra bling.

🎸American Music Fest: Aug 30 – Sep 1 

The sounds of rock, jazz, country, R&B, and more flood the Virginia Beach oceanfront for three sun-filled days over Labor Day Weekend at the American Music Festival. One of the largest outdoor music events on the East Coast, the American Music Festival brings together national, regional, and local acts to play on a gigantic stage erected on the beach at 5th Street, as well as stages in all the parks along the boardwalk.
